Pakistani American Cardiovascular Physician Elected Mayor Of Paris Texas

   A Pakistani American Cardiovascular Physician, a personal friend and Physician of former President Pervez Musharraf, Dr Arjumand Freed Hashmi has been elected as Mayor of Paris Texas and took oath today.   Dr. Hashmi had moved into Paris Texas five years ago where he established his medical practice where he also participated in the welfare and civic activities. He took part in last week's local elections upon consistent support and insistence of local population.
   After successful election for himself and others from his group in last week’s elections, he was also elected as Mayor by the council. Dr. Hashmi is the first Pakistani American to be elected as Mayor of any city in Texas USA.   Former President Pervez Musharraf and other civic and community leaders congratulated him for his success.
  While talking to the media, Dr. Hashmi reiterated his resolve to serve the local community and will do his utmost to resolve their issues. He would like to leave his good name behind for locals to remember.
  He thanked people of his city and other councilmen who supported him in his quest for Mayor-ship. Dr. Arjumand Hashmi's sister in law and Dr. Hassan Fareed Hashmi's wife, Salma Hashmi had also served as a mayor in California. The first Pakistani American Mayor of any US city was Chaudhry Mohammad Ali, who was elected from a city in New Jersey 15 years ago.
