How Does Brain's Wiring Develop In Babies---A Study

British scientists have shown for the first time how our brain "wiring" develops in the first few months of life and say their findings will help in the understanding of a range of brain and psychiatric disorders.
Using a new imaging technique, researchers from the Institute of Psychiatry at King's College London scanned babies brains to monitor the formation of insulating layers around nerve cells.
They found that by the age of nine months, the process known as myelination and vital for normal brain function was visible in all brain areas and in some regions had developed to a near adult-like level."We already know that insulating myelin sheaths form the cornerstone of our neurodevelopment. Without them, messages to and from the brain would be in disarray," said Sean Deoni, who led the study, published by the Journal of Neuroscience.
"By understanding exactly how myelin develops and when this process breaks down, we hope to be able to tailor treatments for vulnerable patients, such as premature babies, and understand what differentiates those that develop normally from those who have some delay or disability."
Damage to the myelination process is thought to contribute to a range of neurological and psychiatric illnesses, including autism and mental disability.
In very premature babies, myelination can be particularly prone to damage, and the researchers said they hoped their new imaging technique would in future allow doctors to directly measure whether the treatments given to premature babies are able to help normal brain development.
Deoni's team scanned 14 healthy babies who were born at full term. They were scanned while they were asleep using a specially-modified, quiet, baby-friendly MRI scanner.
To build up a picture of their myelin development, the scientists scanned the infants monthly between 3 and 11 months and found that by 9 months, they could see that myelination had taken place in all areas of the brain. "Until now, we've not been able to show how myelination develops in babies but this new MRI technique allows us to do just that," said Declan Murphy, also from King's College London, who oversaw the research.
He said the technique could now be used to understand how differences in the way brains are wired up relate to neurological and mental disorders that may not become obvious until later in life. "The next step to scan premature babies and see how their myelin development differs from babies born full term, and how connections in the brains of babies who are at greater risk for developing autism differ from others," he said.

Assets of ’ Sharif ‘ Brothers
The exile of the Sharif family to Saudi Arabia following the pardon announcement by the government, has deprived the Raiwind dwellers of their 15 assets, worth billions of rupees.
A spokesman for the government, Maj-Gen Rashid Qureshi, told Dawn on Monday that almost 80 per cent of the Sharifs’ property had been “taken over” by the government.
According to Mr Qureshi, the 15 assets that have been taken over by the government in return for providing a safe “exit” to the Sharif family include Rs300 million in cash; industrial assets including Brother Steel Mills; Ilyas Enterprises; Hudaybia Paper Mill; Hudaybia Engineering Company; Hamza Spinning Mills; residential property including the Model Town bungalow; three houses at Mall Road Murree; property at 135 Upper Mall Lahore; a plot at Model Town Lahore; a plot at Upper Mall, Lahore; agricultural property including 10.2 kanals of land at Khanpur Sheikhupura Road Lahore; 41 acres and 7 kanals of land at Sheikhupura; 14.2 kanals of land and another 35 kanals at Bhaipharu in Chunnian and 88 kanals of land at Raiwind.
The Raiwind palace of the Sharif family, which ruled the country for almost 15 years, has however not been confiscated by the government.
Mr Qureshi dispelled the impression that there had been any underhand deal between the government and the Sharif family. He said the government had simply responded to the repeated mercy petitions filed by the Sharifs.
Contrary to what the Sharifs were pretending before the public and in their statements to the media, Mr Qureshi said they had been writing to the government including the chief executive and the president, appealing for pardon.
“We were receiving their requests for mercy in the past three to four months particularly after the courts handed over decisions against Nawaz Sharif,” he said.
These requests were renewed recently following Nawaz Sharif’s reported ailment. Mr Qureshi stated that since the chief executive had repeatedly said that he was not vindictive so he recommended to President Tarar that the imprisonment of the Sharifs be pardoned and turned into exile while the rest of the punishments including fines, forfeiture of property and disqualification should stay.
When told that the people in streets felt as if they had been betrayed by the government for allowing a safe exit to the Sharifs, the government spokesman said, “the government has actually taken a compassionate view of the situation and converted the imprisonment into exile.”
Qureshi dispelled the impression that a “deal” was ‘brokered’ either by a Saudi prince or was the exit the consequence of Saudi Arabia’s pressure.
“There has been no pressure on the government,” he clarified, adding that the Saudi authorities, who were also approached by the Sharif’s, had actually offered to the military regime in Pakistan that the country was ready to accept the family if exiled.
“The Saudi’s were also interested in treating the ailing Sharif,” he said.He stressed that the government had agreed to the “plea bargain” remaining within the limits of law and the constitution. Mr Qureshi said none of the exiled members of the Sharif family except Mian Sharif could come back to Pakistan for a period, not known to the general himself.
Assets include 5 industrial units, 5 houses, 2 plots, agriculture properties and Rs 300 million bank deposits; family leaves Pakistan; Kulsoom says she will be back in a month or two
Confiscated industrial assets include Brother Steel Mills, Hudabiya Paper Mills Limited, Hudabiya Engineering Company and Hamza Spinning Mills Limited. Residential properties include houses at Model Town, Lahore; 135 Upper Mall, Lahore; one plot at Model Town, Lahore; one plot at Upper Mall, Lahore; and three houses on Hall Road, Murree.
Agriculture properties include 10 kanal and two marla land at Khanpur, Sheikhupura Road, Lahore; 41 acres and seven kanal land at Watton, Sheikhupura; 14 kanal and two marla land at Bhaipheru, Chunian; 35 kanal and three marla land at Bhaipheru, Chunian; and 88 kanal land, Phubtian, Raiwind.
Following is detail of the confiscated assets of the Sharif family:
Bank deposits: Rs 300 million.

Nawaz Sharif Said Zardari Promoted Culture Of Corruption

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Monday came down hard on President Asif Ali Zardari for what he called promoting the culture of corruption in the country.
Addressing a massive public gathering arranged in connection with the election campaign for the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly here in the NA-7 constituency in support of the PML-N candidate Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, Nawaz Sharif said the PML-N would not allow anyone to promote the politics of flattery in Azad Kashmir.
The PML-N chief lamented that the public money has been looted with both hands and the new corruption scandals of billions of rupees are emerging every day.
He said Azad Kashmir is not a property of President Zardari or Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani but it belongs to the 180 million people of Pakistan and five million population of Azad Kashmir. He said no one would be allowed to make fun of the public sentiments. Nawaz said the PML-N will make sure that the people of AJK get their due rights.
Nawaz said the president and the prime minister were deceiving the nation and ignoring the problems of the common man. He said gas has been provided to big factories but the same is denied to common households.
He said three years ago he had no complaint against the government because at that time President Zardari had started the political reconciliation and had pledged that the destiny of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir would be changed through neat and clean politics and no institution would be allowed to exceed from its limits or violate the constitution. However, he said, these pledges did not materialise.

The Longest Passenger Aircraft In The World

Boeing Co's (BA.N) 747-8 Intercontinental, the new elongated passenger version of its legendary jumbo jet, made its international debut on Sunday, under cloudy skies after a half-hour delay due to wind.
The new model has 467 seats, 51 more than its predecessor, but fewer than the 525-seat A380 made by EADS (EAD.PA) unit Airbus.
The high-profile landing of Boeing's new 747 at the Paris Air Show, three months after its first flight marks a show of engineering strength by the world's second-largest plane maker in a competition for control of the wide-body market."We've seen a great deal of interest in the last six to eight months as the market has gotten better," Randy Tinseth, Boeing's vice president of marketing at Boeing's commercial division..
The plane features a new red and orange livery to symbolize the importance of the fast-growing Asian aircraft market.  Boeing has taken 33 orders for the 747-8 Intercontinental, which will be joined in Paris on Monday by the better-selling freighter version of the plane, which has received 76 orders.
Boeing flew its first 747  the largest commercial plane it makes 42 years ago. Since then, the plane with the distinctive hump has become the world's most recognizable plane. The 747 was the world's largest airplane until 2005, when Airbus unveiled its A380. The 747-8 Intercontinental competes with the A380. The upgraded plane promises to burn less fuel and offers more passenger comfort. The plane also boasts new wings, a new tail, state-of-the-art engines and a new cockpit. The Intercontinental lists at $317.5 million. Germany's Lufthansa (LHAG.DE) has ordered 20 of the planes, and is set to be the first airline to bring the new jumbo into service early next year. Boeing says a VIP customer will take first delivery of an Intercontinental in the fourth quarter of this year.
Production of the new 747 has been delayed as has the mid-sized 787 Dreamliner, a carbon-composite plane, which represents a bigger leap in technology than the revamped 747-8.  The Paris Air Show is the venue of choice for aerospace and defense companies to strut their stuff, to the delight of aviation enthusiasts around the world. In the market for smaller wide-body aircraft, Airbus took a stab at Boeing when it said it would delay availability of some A350 aircraft to develop a bigger engine. The move was a shot across the bow to Boeing's 777-300ER long-range airliner.

Services Rendered By Pak Army Under UN Peace Keeping Mission In The World

For the last few months world media specially under the control of Jewish lobby has started a compaign to demoralize the Pakistan Army and its institutions. They are fulfilling their vested interests against Muslims and specially the only nuclear power state of the Muslim World. Their main objective is to harm Pakistan Army's image in and out side the country. They have started psychological war against Pak Army. Pakistan armed forces are the best in the world, even US forces can not compete Pak Armed forces in traditional wars. They fight with the latest technology, in the open field and with the traditional arms US forces could be defeated in hours by Pakistan's Armed forces, what to speak of Hindu or Jewish Armies. But these coward nations purchase our traitors and secretely fight Pakistan by the tactics.  Western media never tried to highlight Pakistan army's services rendered for the last 50 years under the UN peace keeping forces.  Pakistan sent its first army troop during 1960 under UN Peace mission to Congo. This year on May 29, when UN celebrated "World Day for United Nations Peace Keepers" Pakistan had completed half of the century in world peace keeping services.  On the occasion Pakistani delegate to USA delivered held a marvelous function in New York,  The secretary general of the UN Ban Kie Mon also participated  and addressed the participants.  He said, " during  the last 50 years Pakistan's army, soldiers and civilians presented matchless sacrifices in helping the nations ruined by civil wars, wars and other calamities in the world. Pakistani forces not only saved the people of these nations from wars but constructed schools, hospitals and welfare centres. They treated thousands of people freely. They established paly grounds and stadiums for the sports of the children. I feel proud. of Pakistan who, is no doubt, has a status of a leader in keeping peace in the world." Pakistan army has performed services in many other countries like Congo, Somalia, Serei Leone,  Bosnia, Liberia, Indonesia and Brondi during the last 50 years. The conecerned government and the common people acknowledged  Pakistan 's army services. Today the Guards of our borders and brave soldiers are deployed  in Congo ( 3590),  Liberia ( 3419), Sudan( 1580), Ivory Coast (1304), Haiti (250), Eastern Taimore (1950, and in Kosove ((175)  and busy in serving the humanity day and night.  Pakistan Army Personnels are largest troops that are included in UN Peace Keeping Mission.  Our 122 young men were martyred in these missions. UN secretary general  paid glorious attributes to our martyred soldiers. But Western media will never highlight the sacrifices of Pak Army. These sacrifices are in addition to Pakistan is presenting in the war against terrorism.

Pakistan Is Again Accused By US Officials

In another blow to Washington’s relationship with Pakistan, US officials say Pakistan failed another test to prove it could be trusted to go after American enemies on its soil by intentionally or inadvertently tipping off militants at two more bomb-building factories in its tribal areas, giving the suspected terrorists time to flee. According to The New York Times, officials said on Saturday that the two sites’ locations in the tribal areas had been shared with the Pakistani government this past week,. The Americans monitored the area with satellite and unmanned drones to see what would happen.
In each case, within a day or so after sharing the information, they watched the militants depart, taking any weapons or bomb-making materials with them, just as militants had done the first two times. Only then, did they watch the Pakistani military visit each site, when the terror suspects and their wares were long gone, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss matters of intelligence. The Americans suspect that either lower-level Pakistani officials are directly tipping the militants off to the imminent raids, or the tips are coming through the local tribal elders that Pakistan insists on informing of the raids. US officials have pushed for Pakistan to keep the location of such targets secret prior to the operations, but the Pakistanis say their troops cannot enter the lawless regions without giving the locals notice.
The latest incidents bring to a total of four bomb-making sites that the US has shared with Pakistan only to have the terrorist suspects flee before the Pakistani military arrive. Both sides are attempting to mend relations and rebuild trust after the US raid on May 2 that killed Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad.

Dying Languages In The World

According to a careful survey 5000 languages are being spoken in the world at present. Among these 99 % of the languages are spoken in Asia, Africa, Atlantic Ocean region, North and South America.   Only one percent of the languages are in the Europe.  In Nigeria only 400 languages are spoken.  Similarly, 672 languages belong to Pak-India sub-continent while  The region of Central America has 260 languages. All these languages present a colorful pictire of the world.  This colorful wealth of languages not only help in preserving the vast values of the speakers of the languages but gives newer ideas and views to to the world languages in the form of exchange of words. But from  the last few decades some languages are extincting like some species of birds and animal from the world. Due to globalization and adapting the western civilization  deliberately or imposed by the west , the existence of all other languages except only 110 big and widely spoken languages is in danger. The cultures and civilizations and traditions related to the languages are also falling due to the elimination of the languages. It seems that some languages will remain in pages of history.
